While INTIX provides a fully digital membership experience, it is possible to create printed membership cards with unique scannable barcodes for members who might prefer a physical event entry option.
Printing options:
- export the barcodes that are auto-generated at the time of purchase, then have cards printed with these barcodes, or,
- print cards in advance, then edit the barcode in the INTIX member info when you supply the card to one of your members.
You can add a fee during checkout if you would like customers to pay for the cost of a printed membership card, or postage to mail it out.
Whether printed or digital, members are only able to scan into each event once using their unique membership QR code, ensuring full access control at your events.
How to Create Cards in Advance of Purchase
- Decide how many cards you want printed.
- Create that number of codes, randomly generated, with a length of 20 characters. (Use a website like https://www.couponcarrier.io/code-generator/ or just google “random code generator.”)
- Create a spreadsheet with one column with a Member Number (this will be printed on the card so you know what card you are giving to your member) and another column with the random 20-digit string (this is used to create the scannable QR code on the card). Supply this list to your printer and be sure to keep a copy for yourself.
- Then follow the steps on How to Update Member Barcodes (below) when distributing these pre-printed cards.
How to Create Cards Post-Purchase
You can also create cards based on the digital barcode string that is auto-generated for the member at the time of purchase. Here is how to export these details in bulk.
- Navigate to Organisation > Members/Season Tickets > Members.
- Use the cog wheel button (see image below) to open the display fields for your member listing
- From the list of options (see screenshot below), enable “Barcode” as well as any other details that you want printed on the card (eg. customer name) This changes the columns displayed on your Members list page.
- Click the Export button and supply these details to your card printer . Tell them you want the barcode strings to be printed as QR codes on the membership cards.
These details can be provided to a professional printer or merged into the design suite of a non-commercial card printer.
How to Edit Member Barcodes in INTIX
- When distributing your printed cards, you will need to enter the card barcode to the members' accounts in INTIX. You will use the spreadsheet you supplied to your card printer.
- Go to Organisation > Members/Season Tickets >Members.
- Search for the member and click the eye icon next to their name to view membership details.
- Under Membership Information, click “Edit” and update the barcode field to match the random string barcode related to the specific printed card you are giving the member (see image below). This step makes ensures that the customer's digital membership barcode matches their printed card and that either can be scanned at events.
Note: You can update the barcode anytime - for instance if a member loses their card.
Creating a Delivery Option for members who selected printed membership cards:
You can add a fee to recoup the postage for receiving a printed card:
- Organisation Settings > Membership/Season Tickets
- Additional Settings > Postage/Delivery Options > Add New Delivery Option
To export details of individuals who have opted in for postal delivery:
- Organisation > Members/Season Tickets > Members.
- Use the cog wheel button to open the display fields for your member listing
- Use the radio buttons to select “Delivery Method”
