Radar is a suite of products from Stripe for detecting and preventing fraud. Radar’s core is powered by adaptive machine learning, the result of years of data science and infrastructure work by Stripe’s machine learning teams. Radar’s algorithms evaluate every transaction for fraud risk and take action appropriately.
Transactions that are deemed too high a risk are blocked automatically however, as an online seller it is important to make the purchase process as simple as possible to avoid deterring a sale and as such you don't want to be blocking or hindering legitimate sales.
This is where Radar Rules come in! You can set the parameters for when your customers will be sent through 3D Secure allowing you to utilise Radar to minimise the chances of fraud and being hit with a chargeback but to also manage the end user experience for your customers.
To check your Rules and start setting your own follow the steps below:
- Log in to your Stripe Dashboard
- In the menu down the left click RADAR > RULES
You will see four sections. When should a payment be sent through 3D Secure, when should a payment be allowed, when should a payment be blocked and when should a payment be placed in review.
This is where you can set and change the Rules that apply to your customers. In the bottom right of each section you will see an '+ Add rule' button. To disable a Rule you can click on the three dots to the right of the Rule you would like to disable. If you need more information on how to write rules click here for Strip's guide on Rules. And here for more information including a list of supported attributes.

If you are unsure of what Rules you should create we can suggest ones that have worked well for our clients. Simply contact your Account Manager or use the 'Support' pop up from your INTIX Dashboard. We can't guarantee these Rules will be exactly perfect for you but they are the common Rules we have found that work well for our other clients and we are more than happy to pass them on to you to get started.
If you would like to read more click on the following to be taken to Stripe's information pages on Radar or on 3D Secure.
