On many occasions, we have been required to turn people away at the entrance of an event due to fake tickets being purchased from these sites.
Laws in Australia
Neither the ticketing company, nor the event organiser, is responsible for tickets bought and sold outside of our official platform. These are considered to be "scalped" tickets, and may be barred from entry into the event.
Laws in most Australian states say that it is illegal to sell tickets for more than 10% above their original listed price. INTIX official resale does not allow for any price hikes whatsoever, and tickets are sold at face value.
Laws vary from state to state, so best to brush up on your fine print before taking the risk and expecting to be protected under the law.
What if you accidentally purchased a ticket from one of these sites?
Our first recommendation is to buy a ticket from the official site prior to the event, as tickets bought from an unofficial reseller are not required to be honoured, as they cannot be verified as legitimate.
Recovering your funds for an unofficial ticket
Your only recourse is to take your chances and start what is known as a "chargeback" with the bank that your credit or debit card is with.
A chargeback is a reversal of a credit card transaction and usually occurs when a cardholder raises a dispute with their financial institution (also known as the Issuer) in relation to a purchase made with their credit card.
A chargeback may result in the amount of the original sale being returned to the customer’s account. The reasons why chargebacks occur may vary however, chargebacks are generally the result of a customer being dissatisfied with their purchase or due to unauthorised or fraudulent activity/use of their card. Any transactions, processed without a proper authorisation from the issuer, can also be returned as chargebacks.
